BLUE MURDER:  A Promising British Hard Rock Band Released Their Raucous Self-Titled Debut Album Loved by Fans, Ignored by The Music Industry.

What does one get when one mixes bitter snake venom with vanilla fudge along with some heavy bass guitar lines Well, One gets a loud and bombastic hard rock band out of the United Kingdom named Blue Murder.  Blue Murder consisted of rock veterans John Sykes, Carmine Appice, Tony Franklin, and the late Nik Green in the late 1980’s during the “hair metal” era.  However, this band tried to distance themselves from this era by adding substance rather than “fluff” which was prominent during this time.  So, Blue Murder released their raucous self-titled debut album on April 24, 1989 featuring nine hard hitting tracks that drove fans wild along a hint of blues melodies bringing out feelings of anger, lust, and heartache.

The blistering adventure begins with trouble brewing in the angry track “Riot.”  This track features gritty, snarling vocals and thunderous hard rock melodies that sound like a stampede is occurring and throwing the world into a state of widespread panic.  This track is an obnoxious tale about a group of angry people who are tired of being told what to do by those who are in positions of authority.  So, the group of angry people are causing havoc everywhere because they want to play by their own rules.  Meanwhile, the blistering adventure continues with anger turning into lust in the romantic track “Jelly Roll.”  This track features soulful vocals and bluesy acoustic rock melodies along with a groovy, infectious bassline that sounds like a nervous heartbeat.  This track is a sultry tale about a man who is not shy about expressing his undying love for his girlfriend even when he makes mistakes because no one is perfect.

Finally, the blistering adventure ends with sadness hovering over a lonely man in the heartbreaking track “Out of Love.”  This track features haunting vocals and quivering hard rock melodies that sound like tears are falling down a man’s face as a huge puddle of water forms at his feet.  This track is a heart wrenching tale about a lonely man who is suddenly heartbroken when his girlfriend leaves him.  Then, the lonely man realizes that his once loving relationship has ended because he had been mistreating his former girlfriend.  Now, the lonely man desperately wants his former girlfriend back, but it is too late to repair the damage that has been done.

Blue Murder was a great hard rock band with elements of blues mixed in throughout their mind-blowing self-titled debut album.  This collection of music is truly worth listening to while putting a huge smile on one’s face after a hectic day.  Blue Murder was treated unfairly by getting slapped in the face by the music industry.
