Sometimes, Tuesday needs a jolt of chaos, and this was it. Nashville’s Municipal Auditorium, under the blanket of a calm fall night, buzzed, teetering on the edge of frenetic as Chevelle and Three Days Grace promised a night of electric escape from the mundane. Not usually one to throw caution to the winds of a midweek hangover, even I, blissfully unfamiliar with Chevelle but riding the wave of collective excitement, knew tonight was worth the reckless abandon.
It’s been a powerhouse journey for Chevelle since their subtle yet stirring entrance into the rock realm. From their platinum-decorated beginnings, they’ve ripped through the scene, each album a fresh canvas to color with their evolving sounds. Their musical evolution? Crystal clear. From the rough-and-tumble cadence of “The Red” in their early days to the rich, complex rhythms of their 2021 album NIRATIAS, they’ve proven to be masters of reinvention. However, 2022 brought Explosions, and with it, an embodiment of their knack for sonic innovation and untamed energy, solidifying their foothold as revered maestros of the rock genre.
Three Days Grace has thrummed the heartbeat of the hard rock scene since their emergence, wielding a streak of chart-toppers and a tapestry of emotional anthems that have seared through speakers and into the psyche of listeners worldwide.
