Destroy All Enemies Tour Shakes Nashville’s Municipal Auditorium

LIVE MUSIC REVIEW

Megadeth brings an arsenal of thrash metal classics along with fresh material that showcases Dave Mustaine’s unparalleled songwriting prowess.

The Destroy All Enemies tour, produced by Live Nation, has been bringing metal mayhem to 33 cities across North America, with Megadeth headlining and support from Mudvayne and All That Remains. The tour kicked off in Rogers, Arkansas, on August 2 and wrapped up its final date in Nashville, Tennessee, at the historic Municipal Auditorium on September 28. With Megadeth performing tracks from their latest album, The Sick, The Dying… and the Dead!, alongside their iconic classics, this tour was a celebration of metal’s staying power and a showcase of why bands like Megadeth remain at the forefront of the genre after four decades. This venue, one of Nashville’s oldest and most storied, provided the perfect backdrop for a night of heavy metal mastery, attracting longtime fans and a new generation alike.

Mudvayne hit the stage first, and this was my first time seeing them live, I finally got why they have such a dedicated fanbase. These aren’t just casual listeners—they show up with their faces painted, ready to rock like it’s a personal mission. The energy was undeniable from the start, and the band fed off that vibe, giving back tenfold. The bassist is an absolute beast, charging across the stage like one of those bulls let loose in Pamplona, Spain. I couldn’t take my eyes off him. He owned every inch of that stage, setting the tone for what was to come. And the singer? Charismatic and magnetic. Interacting with the crowd, cameras, and jumping around like he was born to perform. He had this mischievous energy—sticking out his tongue and pulling all the moves you want in a live show. You can tell Mudvayne is a generational band, with parents and their kids rocking out together, faces painted in unison. I’m officially keeping this band on my radar; their performance was special.

Then, Megadeth took the stage, and as someone who’s seen them six times now, I can confidently say I’ll probably keep coming back for more. Megadeth are the kings of metal, and it’s undeniable. Playing at one of Nashville’s oldest venues only added to the significance of the night. Dave Mustaine often asks if there are any other bands these days like Iron Maiden, AC/DC, and Megadeth, and I’ve got to say, there aren’t. There are plenty of great bands, sure, but no one combines songwriting, hooks, and melody the way Megadeth does.

The setlist was packed with hits that spanned their career, from Rust In Peace to Countdown to Extinction and tracks from their latest album, The Sick, The Dying… and the Dead! Each song was a reminder of why this band has endured for so long. Megadeth’s performance was tight, polished, and full of that signature thrash metal precision that keeps fans coming back.

The encore was all-out intensity, with “Symphony of Destruction” and “Holy Wars… The Punishment Due” closing the night in classic Megadeth style. They didn’t need to say much; the music did all the talking. It was one of those shows where you leave knowing you’ve just witnessed something legendary.

If you haven’t seen Megadeth live yet, you’re missing out. They’re still the kings, and after decades in the game, they’re showing no signs of slowing down. This tour is proof that Megadeth, alongside bands like Mudvayne, continues to dominate the stage, reminding us all why we fell in love with metal in the first place
