WMOT Roots Radio returned to the Wash at Eastside Bowl for three days of Americana Music. For Americana music fans, the venue offered the opportunity to see five sets each day without having to leave the premises–all with food, bowling, and free parking.
Wednesday featured American songster Don Flemons, bluesman Bobby Rush, Australiana-Americana guitar great Tommy Emmanuel, Ellen Jewell, and Maggie Rose, set to open later in the week for Tedeschi-Trucks Band.
Thursday the Swiss-Ecuadorean Hermanos Gutierrez, Austin’s The Band of Heathens, country artist Kaitlin Butts, Australian folk trio Sons of the East, and Jobi Riccio.
On Friday, Lola Kirk stepped in for The Secret Sisters, who missed because of an illness. The Gospel Rockers from Memphis the Sensational Barnes Brothers raised the roof, followed by Eddie 9V. Lindsay Lou, whose latest album The Queen of Time is due out this week, was joined on harmony by Melody Walker and Phoebe Hunt, co-writer of “Nothing Else Matters,” from her upcoming album. Brandy Clark closed out the last day of a full week with songs from her new self-title album, produced by Brandi Carlile, as well as other favorites from her earlier projects.
