IN CASE OF EMERGENCY, LISTEN TO THIS!
A review of Scott Mulvahill’s Music.

The scent of Coffee inundated this small apartment I live in, down in Nashville, TN. It’s fall time, and the light shining through the window taints everything with a golden hue. It’s one of those days in which you cradle a warm latte in your hands, ponder about life and let the music fill out every nook and cranny of your home, and of your heart.

Just like the beginning of Autumn, with its gentle yet firm changing in character of the weather, the music of Scott Mulvahill kindly helps you transition through the current season of your life. No matter where you’re at, which mental state, how much hope you have left in humanity, really, it does not matter… The strong, healthy pulse of the bass, opening  the Album “Surrounded” gently nudging your heart into waking up, pulsing to the beat of the music. And when you are hooked, the horn section accompanied by the sweet husky voice of Scott starts calling your soul back home. Yes, the music of Mulvahill is quite the experience.

Time and time again, some of us “music purists” complain about how music lost its relationship with real instruments and all along this seasoned musician was creating the tunes our jaded ears needed to hear. Masterfully crafted, intimate and introspective, and with a, dare I say, minimalist approach maybe? His latest work brings out the best of his music influences. Scott has shared the stage with quite the names, and yet, I cannot say I hear “this or the other artist” in his composition. When you click play, all you can hear is Scott Mulvahill.

The string arrangements, pretty much the identity of some of these songs, will have the toughest of us in tears. Not only because they work perfectly with the lyrics but because Scott’s vocal performance matching the emotional tone they set, is impeccable. You can tell this man knows “the language” and his compositions are so versatile, the pop fans will enjoy it as well as the jazz and classical music ones.

This is one of those artists you want to keep at hand, at all times. If a musical first aid kit was a thing, Scott Mulvahill’s music is a must have. In case of emergency, pour yourself some scotch and lose yourself in every note of this amazing artist.
