NEWS
DEBUT ALBUM EXPECTATIONS RELEASED
TO WIDESPREAD ACCLAIM
HEADLINE TOUR CONFIRMED
Breakthrough singer, songwriter and musician Katie Pruitt was featured on “CBS This Morning” this past weekend as part of their “Saturday Sessions” series performing three songs from her critically acclaimed debut album: “Expectations,” “My Mind’s A Ship (That’s Going Down)” and “Loving Her.”
Co-produced by Pruitt and her close friend Mike Robinson, Expectations was recently released on Rounder Records (stream/purchase here) and continues to receive widespread critical praise:

Top 10 Albums of February
“stunning…her voice in particular…radiates so much empathy and love and understanding. The whole record just really moved me, it’s so beautiful.”

“such clarity of expression and disarming intimacy—Expectations is aesthetically warmhearted even in its tensest moments of confrontation”

“there’s something wonderfully nostalgic about Katie Pruitt’s Expectations
rustles up the timeless, infinite feeling of being young and limitless.”

★★★★
 “an immediately captivating listen”
“At the end of ten tracks and just over 45 minutes you not only have a reasonable understanding of who newcomer Katie Pruitt is as a person, but know that this near
flawless introduction is the auspicious start of a career that shows incredible promise.”

“Katie Pruitt possesses the storytelling finesse of someone like Jason Isbell, but she
also has the rootsy rock star energy…of someone like Sheryl Crow.”
“The real draw here, though, is her voice, which can sound delicate and feathery. She’s also capable of sudden, robust power, and she can switch from one to the other in a flash.”

 “stunning”
“As an artist’s opening statement, the album is bold and beautiful, impactful and
entertaining. It’s an exercise in courage so exquisitely raw”

“Country Music’s Next Queer Star”
“a testament to the level of vulnerability Pruitt herself is comfortable channeling”

“beautifully crafted and casually powerful songs”
“deftly and compassionately chart themes like queerness, familial conflict,
religion and mental health”

“one of the most talked about names in Nashville”
“Her clear, pure alto can flip into dizzying runs or searing grit at a moment’s notice, and she lives up to everything suggested by the name of her new single, ‘Expectations.’”

“Katie Pruitt is blazing a distinguishable path through Nashville with her
brilliant songwriting and captivating voice to match.”

“Navigating complex issues such as sexuality and mental health, Pruitt calls on her supple, clear and eloquent vocals to unite clear-headed delivery with a powerful message.”

“Rare are first-album lyrical voices so fully formed and fully engaging as Pruitt’s…Yet, song after song, Pruitt delivers on every level—writing, performance, and production”
In celebration of the album, Pruitt will embark on an extensive headline tour this spring including stops at Los Angeles’ The Hotel Café, San Francisco’s Café Du Nord, Seattle’s Sunset Tavern, Denver’s Globe Hall, New York’s Mercury Lounge, Philadelphia’s MilkBoy, Atlanta’s Eddie’s Attic and Nashville’s Basement East among several others. She will also perform at Luck Reunion on March 19 and will join City and Colour for several shows this spring. See below for complete details.
