Pawns & Kings Tour – Alter Bridge with Sevendust @ The Signal 5/14/23

Halfway through the second leg of their Pawns & Kings Tour, Alter Bridge and Sevendust played to an almost sold out crowd in Chattanooga, TN on May 14, 2023. They were the first national act to grace the stage at the new location of The Signal, and they brought the house down! The concert hall was packed from front to back with eager fans ready to rock. The new venue space has a wrap around mezzanine for those who want a little extra room and a killer view of the entire stage set up.

The energy from the crowd was high with people chanting and waiting for rockers Sevendust to take the stage. Drummer Morgan Rose was the first one on stage and the crowd roared. He was followed by Vince Hornsby on bass, John Connolly on guitar and Clint Lowery on lead guitar. Lead singer Lajon Witherspoon, wearing an Alter Bridge shirt, was the last to appear before the band went straight into “Face to Face” off of their Seasons album, followed by “Denial” off of the 1999 Home album. In between songs, Lajon took a minute to tell the crowd how much he loved being in Tennessee as he grew up “down the road in Nashville.” He told a quick story of how crazy their trip to Chattanooga was after an onstage power outage cut their Sick New World Fest set short in Las Vegas the night before. He told the crowd to get moving as hands were in the air and heads were banging to “Crucified” and “Waffle.” The band kept the crowd engaged with their high energy set and by throwing out custom guitar picks and drum sticks to the fans rocking out at the barrier. The band appropriately ended their set with “Thank You” as the crowd roared on.

TIME FOR ALTER BRIDGE!

The house lights went down and the headliners, Alter Bridge took the stage full force with three powerful songs in a row- “Silver Tongue”, “Addicted To Pain,” and “Ghosts Of Days Gone By.” The songs set the tone for the rest of the night full of battling guitars and one hell of a rhythm section. The fans were singing every word to all of the songs effortlessly being played by these top notch musicians. Alter Bridge continued the set with another song from the Pawns & Kings album, “Holiday.” The band slowed things down a bit with “Broken Wings”, “Sin After Sin”, and “Burn it Down” before heading into the hard hitting “Cry Of Achilles.” The emotions in the crowd were almost palpable as Myles Kennedy sang “Watch Over You” followed by crowd favorites “In Loving Memory” and “Blackbird.” The energy went right back up with “Come To Life” and “Pawns & Kings.” The band’s energy never stopped and neither did the crowd’s as they went straight into “Isolation” and “Metalingus.” They finished out the night with “Coeur d Alene” and “Rise Today” as the encore. Myles Kennedy on vocals/guitar and Mark Tremonti on guitar/vocals perfectly complemented one another with their unique playing styles all night long while bassist Brian Marshall and drummer Scott Phillips held down the heavy rhythm section for a show any rock fan would love!

Alter Bridge and Sevendust christened the new location of The Signal with an unforgettable rock performance that is going to be hard to top!
