BACKSTREET BOYS – DNA TOUR, NASHVILLE, TENNESSEE 09/08/2022 – BY ERIKA WHITE

Nick Carter, Howie Dorough, Brian Littrell, AJ McLean and Kevin Richardson, are the members that make up the BACKSTREET BOYS! These guys are responsible for a generation of loyal fans…

This North American World Tour appropriately named DNA TOUR is exactly that!

As their music goes back decades, I like so many other fans have a  BACKSTREET BOYS song that was included on our soundtrack of this “so called life”

Nostalgia filled the Nashville air tonight creating an atmosphere of pure emotion.Once the strings rang out the intro to “Show Me the Meaning of Being Lonely”is followed by the collective gulping of the crowd. As this generational anthem starts to slowly burn through our memories… ”Tell me why, I can’t be there where you are” words our younger selves could never forget, “There’s something missing in my heart”,lyrics only repeated with new meaning. It’s as if the words to this song carries their own specific meaning to each individual fan. Kind of like our fingerprints, or even the strands of DNA

From Backstreet Boys DNA Tour Official Press Release:
“Backstreet Boys never quit. They kept making records — adapting their increasingly adult sound to an ever-shifting pop landscape — and kept upping the performance stakes too, taking their NKOTBSB supergroup (with New Kids on the Block) on the road in 2011, and holding down a two-year residency at Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas starting in 2017. Their DNA World Tour celebrates their rich history of swooning ballads and get-up-and-dance jams (and yet another No. 1 album in 2019’s DNA).

Despite becoming more or less a five-headed pop machine, the Backstreet Boys’ origins were pretty organic. Cousins Kevin Richardson and Brian Littrell came up singing in church choirs and at festivals in Lexington, Kentucky, while the other three bonded over their shared love for Prince and old-school R&B after meeting at various acting auditions around Orlando. They came together under the guidance of teen-pop guru Lou Pearlman and emerged in the mid-1990s as radio-smashing global sensations — the quintessential boy band yearning over heartfelt hits like “I Want It That Way” and powering parties with upbeat bops like “Everybody (Backstreet’s Back).” Their first two U.S. albums — 1997’s Backstreet Boys and 1999’s Millennium”
