Badflower @ First Bank Amphitheater on 8/16/23

As the sun was setting at the First Bank Amphitheater in Franklin, TN, the stage lights went dark and the crowed roared in anticipation for Badflower. Playing off of the recent movie success, “Barbie Girl” by Aqua blared through the speakers as the crowd started singing along. Anthony Sonetti came out first and took his place at the drum kit followed by Alex Espiritu on bass and Joey Morrow on guitar. Lead singer Josh Katz came out last and went straight into “Don’t Hate Me” as the crowd went wild. You could feel the rock ’n roll energy pulsating through the venue as the band launched into “Johnny Wants to Fight” followed by “Fukboi.”

The band slowed things down with their hauntingly beautiful song “Heroin.” The people in the pit were swaying back and forth in unison as cell phone lights lit up the back of the amphitheater. The band played “Jester,” another banger from their OK, I’m Sick album afterwards. Katz paused for minute when the song was over to thank the crowd for coming to the show and reminded everyone that this was the band’s hometown. He told the crowd to sing along if they knew the words, as the band launched into their hit song “Ghost.” During the chorus, Katz moved away from the microphone and the crowd sang every word as the band continued to rock out. It was a magical moment for sure!

The guys kept the energy going as they started “Stalker.” Katz jumped off the stage and into the crowed as he continued to sing and made his way around the venue. Towards the end of the song, Sonetti and Espiritu went into a funky rhythm section duo that made the crowd jump to their feet. Katz made his way back to the stage while Sonetti continued with a monumental two minute drum solo. The band ended their set with “30” as the crowd continued to roar and cheer. If you haven’t made it to a Badflower show yet, you are missing out on an epic modern rock experience!
