Godsmack Brings the Vibez to Nashville

Nearly 30 years in, Godsmack gave fans a different perspective on their musical journey along with a few surprises.  The Vibez Tour, a unique stripped down partial acoustic and storytelling tour gave a new look into the music and songwriting that brought everyone into historic Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, TN.  Filling a setlist full of original material with classics, new songs, and some classic rock covers kept the crowd enthralled.

Vocalist Sully Erna took time throughout the evening telling stories about the songs as well as personal musical stories.  The raw and emotional aspect of the show was pleasing to the die hard fans as it felt like a one on one chat in the intimate venue.  A sharp contrast from the typical Godsmack show in larger venues with pyro, crowd surfing, and moshing, with the Ryman crowd mainly seated and quiet listening to every word and note.

Erna showcased his multi instrument talent by taking on guitar, piano, and even percussion throughout the night.  The band covered tracks from each of it’s release, along with a handful of well known cover tunes.  Ending the evening Erna introduced Aerosmith’s Brad Whitford to the stage.  Whitford and Godsmack have performed together a handful of times previously as they ripped through a cover of “Dream On” and ended the show with The Beatles “Come Together”.

“Music is a special thing”, Erna stated during the evening, drilling the point across on how even just the vibrations from the guitar strings resonate with the performer and audience alike. The intimate performance and chatter created a unique experience that Godsmack fans should check out.
