Parcels at Ascend Amphitheater

All Hallow’s Eve at Nashville’s Ascend Amphitheater was a perfect evening of fun costumes and a disco glow dance party.  Cowboy superheroes, sad clowns, and a gaggle of minions swayed under the lights as Parcels closed out their headline run.  The Australian-born, Berlin-based five-piece turned the riverside venue into a glittering electropop disco.  Their smooth harmonies and grooving bass lines radiate the kind of warmth that feels like sunshine on your face.

The Lemon Twigs kicked off the night with their signature throwback charm.  Bell bottoms, shaggy hair, and sweet mellow harmonies that landed somewhere between the ‘60s and ‘70s California Dream.  Their set closed with a warm and woozy farewell that had the crowd swaying.

Once Parcels hit the stage, the party was in full swing.  Keyboardists, Louie Swain and Patrick Hetherington danced, tambourines sparkled, and a kiss cam rolled through the pit during  their song Summerinlove.  Midway through, they gathered around drummer Anatole “Toto” Serret for a loose, funky jam sesh that pulled the crowd in even closer.

The night kept going with one hit after another.  Overnight, Gamesofluck, Thinkaboutit, and Tieduprightnow were just a few to name.  Each song rolling into another.  Lots of love and continuous movement the entirety of the show.

For their last headline show, and the final night at Ascend, Parcels made it feel like an intimate celebration.  No one seemed ready for this glimmering dance party to end.  Everyone could have kept going all night long.
