PUNK ROCK IS STILL ALIVE: Jon Caspi +The First Gun (feat. Dez Cadena) Release Their Fuzz-Laden Album “The Studio 650 Sessions”
By Leslie Snyder
The fist pumping anthem begins with amplifiers exploding in the unforgettable track “Always Looking” (feat. Dez Cadena). This track features raspy vocals and gritty punk rock melodies that sound like a bolt of lightening struck a band’s amplifiers as they were performing in front of a large crowd during a stormy summer night. This track is a raucous tale about a group of friends who always have one another’s backs while partying in a smoky bar. Meanwhile, the fist pumping anthem rolls on as one’s personal freedom is put to the test in the anxiety ridden track “Nervous Breakdown” (feat. Dez Cadena). This track features screaming vocals and thunderous punk rock melodies that sound like a tornado has destroyed a small town leaving unimaginable carnage in its wake. This track is an angry tale about a bitter man who is slowly being driven out of his mind by the status quo. The bitter man is being teased constantly simply for following a different path throughout his life and not conforming to society’s rules that have been etched in stone for generations.
Finally, the fist pumping anthem draws to a close as the element of fear is engulfing a frightened group of people in the nerve-racking track “Hanging Around” (feat. Dez Cadena). This track features shouting vocals and pulsating punk rock melodies that sound like a rundown boiler in a factory has burst spewing hot, steamy water everywhere. This track is an obnoxious rant about an annoyed group of people who are spinning around in circles while working low paying jobs. So, the frightened group of people are ready to get a breath of fresh air and go beyond the confines of their small town in order to see what the world has to offer.
Jon Caspi + The First Gun (feat. Dez Cadena) is a great independent punk rock band who have an unapologetic view of a corrupt society and give a voice to the voiceless throughout their rowdy live album “The Studio 650 Sessions” (feat. Dez Cadena) reminds listeners that yes, punk rock is still very much alive.
