Let me tell you about Steel Panther’s show in Nashville. Tornado warnings were swirling across Tennessee that night, and I thought, “No way this show isn’t canceled.” I called Marathon Music Works to check, and sure enough, the show was still on. Tornadoes couldn’t stop this metal machine.
The evening began with Stitched Up Heart, whose frontwoman Mixi led the charge with a powerful performance. Their latest album, To the Wolves, released on September 1st, 2023, showcases a heavier direction with intricate electronics and Mixi’s signature emotional scream. Their new single “Possess Me” combines progressive elements with familiar hooks from their earlier hit “Monster,” giving it a darker, modern twist. The song’s unapologetic energy and fierce attitude embody the band’s new direction as they explore darker territories.
Stitched Up Heart’s moody yet melodic style added a soulful and anthemic edge to the evening, contrasting with Steel Panther’s comedic antics and playful vibe. Mixi’s commanding vocals and the band’s tight musicianship set the perfect tone for a night dedicated to all things metal.
Then, Steel Panther hit the stage. These guys are more than just comedy—they’re masters at their craft. The chemistry among Michael Starr, Satchel, Stix Zadinia, and their new bassist Spyder was undeniable. Their stage presence made the crowd feel like they were in on the joke, from the first note of “Eyes of a Panther” to the last chord of “Party Like Tomorrow Is the End of the World.” They turned the night into a glam-metal carnival with high-octane solos, thunderous riffs, and that distinctive humor.
Despite legal restrictions on audience flashing, Steel Panther skirted the rules with clever insinuations and witty banter. They kept us laughing while blowing us away with musicianship. Their latest album, On the Prowl, brought the tour together with a mix of their signature comedic lyrics and expertly crafted glam metal.
The crowd was fully engaged, singing and headbanging through songs like “Just Like Tiger Woods” and “Death to All but Metal.” They invited every girl to the stage for “17 Girls in a Row,” turning the venue into a nostalgic 80s rock fest. When they brought a fan up for an impromptu serenade, the crowd went wild at the playful lyrics.
Steel Panther closed with “Party Like Tomorrow Is the End of the World,” leaving the crowd grinning and exhausted from all the headbanging. The camaraderie, stage presence, and sheer musical prowess made this a masterclass in rock entertainment. Even with tornado warnings outside, Steel Panther and Stitched Up Heart made sure the Nashville crowd partied like tomorrow really was the end of the world.
